Frye’s Leap #1

Price range: $65.00 through $340.00

This digital watercolor was created in 2016, of “Frye’s Leap,” a very large rock outcrop on the northern shore of Sebago Lake, Maine. For generations before colonization, indigenous people created glyphs on the rocks at Frye’s Leap. While these images have faded and are largely unrecognizable today, they indicate a deep connection to the place for centuries before the arrival of Europeans. Some researchers believe these images were a form of communication with spirits in the rocks and water, suggesting a spiritual significance to the location. The ‘images’ and their placement were obtained from old postcards from the early 1900s. In the foreground is a Native American family canoeing past Frye’s Leap.
